Annapolis Royal Recreation coordinates several community programs, some of which include;
swim lessons and aquatic programs, youth gymnastics, tennis camps and tournaments,
volleyball, basketball and ball-hockey tournaments, seniors bus trips, Seniors Games,
cycle racing, skiing programs, Canada Day events, volunteer recognition activities,
and Terry Fox Runs. Our program slate is always changing, as we attempt to respond
to new program opportunities. Presently, we are working on a project which would
expand our program potential even further, especially during winter months.
Helping to facilitate these programs are a number of facilities within the Town,
including; an outdoor pool, two tennis courts, soccer pitches, beach volleyball courts,
playground areas, and two school gymnasium facilities. As well, located within Annapolis
Royal is Historic Fort Anne which provides attractive green space, walking trails, and is
often a venue for special events. Nearby there are many additional facilities, including
an 18 hole golf course.
Annapolis Royal can also boast of having a beautiful waterfront area which includes;
a boardwalk, lighthouse, wharf, dry-dock and pleasure craft facilities. Other attractions
within Town include: The Historic Gardens, King's Theatre, Farmer's Market, Tidal
Generating Station, and museums.
The natural beauty of our area truly makes a lasting impression and lends itself to
several outdoor recreation pursuits. Fish from ship or shore for the prized striped bass,
often caught in excess of 40lbs. Lighter tackle can be used for the increasingly popular
mackerel run or relax while ice fishing for smelt. The Annapolis River also provides for
great boating opportunities: seen often are sail boats, windsurfers, motor craft, canoes
and kayaks. Outdoor opportunities are ever increased as you explore the region surrounding
Annapolis Royal. Witness the Bay of Fundy tides, wilderness trails and camping, or fish
the many local lakes for speckled trout.
Annapolis Royal provides opportunity for endless recreational pursuits, which helps to
enhance a quality of life you must experience to believe.
