Nova Scotia Festival & Events Council - 2005 Event of the Year Award
For as long as anyone can remember, people have celebrated. Celebration itself is perhaps
the most common denominator that we have, crossing all barriers of race, religion,
ethnicity, age, politics, economics, education and geography. The need to celebrate seems
inherent in everything we do and touches virtually every life on the planet. The Nova
Scotia Festivals & Events Council celebrates the hundreds of festivals and events that take
place annually in the province that make up this vibrant, and thriving, sector of the tourism
industry.
Winners in 2005 included:
Hometown Pride Annapolis Royal Historic Walking & Graveyard Tours: Alan Melanson
provides a unique and memorable adventure for visitors to Annapolis Royal. In
costume, and with an extraordinary ability to weave a story, visitors can
accompany Alan on a candlelight tour to explore the Oldest English Graveyard in
Canada. These Graveyard Tours are complimented by an equally unique daytime
walking tour of the historic district of Annapolis Royal. The fact that Alan has
been offering these tours for 14 years stands as a testament to Alan’s ability to
deliver on a unique experience for visitors as much as to the popularity of the
product. It’s with product and people such as this that continues to make our
small town events a key reason why our visitors say Nova Scotia and it’s people
are so friendly and dynamic.
