Household hazardous waste products may NOT be put into recycle or garbage bags as they are products that have been banned from NS landfills. These items include:
- paint and paint thinners
- cleaners
- used motor oil
- pesticides
- household batteries
- pool chemicals
- gasoline
- driveway sealer
- similar hazardous materials
Household hazardous waste must be dropped off at the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Depot at the Valley Waste Western Management Centre in Lawrencetown.
Depot hours are
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, and
Saturday 8:00 am - noon.
There is no charge for non-commercial drop-offs.

Sharps/Needles
Hutchins Pharmacy provides a programme to individuals for the safe disposal of hypodermic
needles. Needles and other "sharps" must NOT be disposed of in regular curbside pickup for
the safety of the employees in the collection and sorting processes.
