Occupiers, owners or persons in charge of houses, stores, lots and pieces of land situate on that portion of St. George Street in the Town extending northerly from and including the property now or formerly owned by Charles B. Dargie and Son on the one side and from the Town Hall Building on the other side to the Government Wharf, shall, after every snowfall, clear away the snow and ice from the sidewalks adjoining their respective properties as follows:
  1. when the snow ceases falling during the day within four (04) hours after it has ceased falling; and

  2. when the snow ceases falling during the night, within four (04) hours after daylight on the following day.
Penalties

Every person who violates Sections 8 or 9 shall be liable on summary conviction to a penalty as described by the Summary Proceedings Act pursuant to Sections 78 or 97 of the Town’s Act R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 472.

Every person who violates any other portion of this By-law is liable, upon summary conviction to a fine of not less than Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($250.) and not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1000.) or, in default of payment, to imprisonment for a term of not less than ten (10) days and not exceeding ninety (90) days.
